Thursday April 6, 2023 TPASC 8:30 – 9:30 pm Long Course LC (50m) First Thursday of the
month.

The club would like to encourage all Thursday DIP (Dunbarton Indoor Pool) swimmers to come to TPASC.

Also even if Thursday is not your regular swim and you would like to try LC, please feel free to come. Also join us for a drink afterwards at  Zaks

Swim Ontario (SO) Master’s Provincial Swim Meet

For PMSC members who are interested, the Swim Ontario (SO) Masters Provincial swim meet will now be held on May 6 and 7 at the Etobicoke Olympium (it was originally scheduled to take place at the end of March). The entry deadline is Wed. April 26. More information can be found here:

As mentioned in the Nov. 2022 PMSC Newsletter, there are two Masters organizations in Ontario: Swim Ontario (SO) and Masters Swimming Ontario (MSO). PMSC is registered with MSO and there are swim meets hosted by this organization. PMSC Members can also attend meets sanctioned by SO if they pay an annualized fee of $60 to become an unaffiliated Swim Ontario Member (SOM). Please the access the registration form HERE and then send to heather@swimontario.com to register with SO.

Once this is paid, then each person must pay an $85 plus HST registration fee for the May 6/7 competition. There is an online registration form to enter the events you wish to swim, with a maximum of eight individual events. If there is enough interest PMSC will be able to enter relays. 

March Break

As indicated on the calendar https://pickeringmsc.ca/members/ club swims are cancelled from Monday March 13, 2023 – Saturday March 18, 2023. Thus out last swim before the March break is Saturday Mach 11, 2023. Resuming on Monday March 20, 2023.

Equipment

The club recommends that all club members acquire certain pieces of equipment to maximize the swim sessions which include kick board (although often available at the pool), pull buoy, fins, and paddles. Please visit https://pickeringmsc.ca/pickeringmsc-market-place/ (link in https://pickeringmsc.ca/members/) for some equipment the club has for sale. Otherwise visit the aquatic equipment suppliers mentioned. If you want free shipping e.g.  Triboutique, and can not make the minimum order amount for free shipping, let us know and we can combined some orders to get that.

Thursday March 2, 2023 TPASC practice moved to Dunbarton 9:00 – 10:00 pm (as per Winter Ontario Swimming Championships – March 1st – March 5th, 2023)

Monday March 13 – Saturday March 18, 2023 – practices at Dunbarton and TPASC cancelled as per March Break.

Tuesday March 28, 2023 TPASC practice moved to Dunbarton 9:00 – 10:00 pm  (as per Canadian Swimming Trials – March 25th-April 2nd, 2023)

Problems which have affect DIP for our last Saturday and Mondays Workouts have been resolved. See everybody back in the pool  for tonight’s (Thursday) nights session with Rene. If are a Saturday or Monday night swimmer, please feel free to come.

Pickering MSC will be in the training pool at TPASC for Tuesday night swim October 25, 2022 8:30 – 9:30 pm swim.

Note: Single-day tickets start at $49 (includes both morning and evening sessions).

Hello Fellow Swimmers, 

   We hope that the start of this year’s swim season has been a great one for you so far! Membership has grown to 40 members with many joining for the first time.  We hope to continue to grow our membership, there is room for more swimmers.  At a time when clubs & organizations have struggled to continue in this post-lockdown world, we are so grateful for your involvement, presence and support.  Our goal is to have a sustainable membership to support an active and successful swim program that is fun, provides fitness and value.

Please join us for our PMSC General Meeting on Wednesday, October 12th at 7:00pm at the Lone Star Texas Grill at 705 Kingston Rd in Pickering. We will have our own room in the back of the restaurant for us to conduct our “official swim club business” as well as have some time socializing over a bite & a beverage. We need your involvement to continue to grow the Club.

Our agenda for that evening will give us a chance to meet our current coaches and executive, learn about the club and its’ history, and discuss the club’s vision going forward.  Learn and contribute your interests about opportunities for involvement in the club, potential swim meets, future social gatherings, swim schedules, and other.

We are currently engaged and seeking membership in building a participatory and active executive. Learn about the executive positions that are available and consider how you would like to shape the evolving future of the Club.

Given that so much has changed within the club and with masters swimming in general, we hope to see everyone come out to this meeting to keep up-to-date. The success of any organization depends a great deal on an active membership, and we look forward to seeing you AND hearing from you on October 12th!  You are welcome to bring friends and family.

Hello fellow swimmers.  As we rapidly approach our season startup, please note the following:

• Due to the national holiday on Monday September 19, 2022, Dunbarton Indoor Pool (DIP) will be closed. In addition to not being able to get in for our first swim, the planned information session at 8:00 pm will also have to be cancelled.

  In lieu of this we are deferring this to be part of our PickeringMSC General Meeting. Please see below.

• Our first swim will thus be Tuesday September 20, 2022 8:30-9:30 pm at TPASC with our new coach Leslie-Ann who we are excited to have as an addition to our program.
• If you haven’t yet signed up for the 2022/23 season, We would be pleased to have you join. Just go to go to https://pickeringmsc.ca/membership/
  1. Join the club for the 2022/23 season which includes your membership with MSO and required waiver forms.
  2. Choose and sign up for your swim time(s)
  3. Send your e-transfer to etransfer@pickeringmsc.ca. This would include your $15 MSO/Club registration fee and your session fee. Two separate e-transfers would be appreciated, but not required.
• For those new to the club and wanting to take advantage of the 2-week free trial.
  1. Join the club for the 2022/23 season which includes your membership with MSO and required waiver forms.
  2. Choose and sign up for your swim time(s). If you are not sure of the time(s) you would like to swim, choose something for now. Do not send an e-transfer at this time.
  3. At end of your 2-week trial, you will receive an email with next steps on how to confirm your swim times and pay your registration fees.
