Pickering Running Room 2014 Peterborough Sprint Triathlon Clinic – Week 03 – Equipment Selection

Clinic

This week we will be talking a bit about Triathlon equipment among other things. We may also briefly talk a bit about interval training and technique. Mostly as these relate to swimming, but also to the bike and swim.

As per last weeks clinic, I also mention getting your resting heart rate.

Heart Rate

Came across this interesting Heart rate App for your mobile if you want something more than using your fingers and a watch and do not want to buy a Polar or Garmin etc..

Radiall Pulse

Carotid Pulse

Repeat this for 2 to 3 morning and take the average.

Once you have your resting heart rate, please submit Resting Heart form. This will then be forwarded to

triathlon@pickeringmastersplashers.com email.

If you have done so, please also fill out the Triathlon Readiness Survey to help us better tailor your program.

Swim

Week 2 swim session is posted at http://pickeringmastersplashers.com/triathlon/tri_2014/tri-2014-swim/tri2014-swim-week02-04-30/. You can use this for a basis for your own training. You should be trying to get out a least one other time a week i.e. besides Wednesday night. Remember if you are new to swimming, more frequency and let duration per session. Once you get the technique down, you can work on endurance.

Bike

Monday night bikes sessions are going well. However Saturday morning are having a tough time with the weather. We will see how it goes this Saturday. So stay tune to your email or check the calendar to see if we are going. Again, the Saturday ride are optional and will allow for longer ride if you are looking for that. You can review our last Monday night ride at: http://pickeringmastersplashers.com/triathlon/tri_2014/tri-2014-swim/tri2014-swim-week02-04-30/

Saturdays ride(s) may be seen at http://pickeringmastersplashers.com/triathlon/tri_2014/tri-2014-ride/tri2014-ride-week01-04-26/
